Garden Club! Edible Garden
week 6 of 8 full of lessons and activities for children (or adults)
Welcome to Garden Club! This week, Garden Club is DELICIOUS!
That’s because we’re encouraging kids to cook, forage, and mix foods grown outside or in the garden. It’s a fun and playful way to get kids to try new foods and be involved in the preparation process.

Mindful Movement
This week’s mindful movement is a little nature hunt. The suggested reading for this week is We're Going on a Nature Hunt by Steve Metzger - you could read that as you all march along, or some variation of the “script” below, walking around in between each line.
We’re going on an adventure! A nature hunt! Grab your pretend backpacks, zip, zip, zip them up, and put them on your backs. Let’s go!
What do you see? I see some tall trees - let’s all stretch up to grab their branches.
Oh! What is that? Shhh, everyone quiet. Do you hear the buzzing? Where is the bee?
Here are some animal tracks. Do you think they belong to a bunny? Let’s all hop around like bunnies.
Whoa! There’s a rainbow in the sky. Let’s all grab a color and put it in our backpacks. What color did you grab?
That was a fun nature hunt! What did we find?
Omg I want to be in your garden club. What an amazing environment for these children. 🫶🏼 learning life long skills and developing such a healthy relationship with the earth and food!
